Position Title: Preschool Teacher

General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Educator/Teacher will be responsible for designing activities to meet children’s needs, motivate children toward a positive attitude for learning, facilitate the development of self-control, social skills, self-esteem. The Educator/Teacher will work as part of a team to provide all educational and programmatic supervision for his/her classroom and will meet with parents to review students’ progress.

Supervision Received:
Works under the direct supervision of the ABC Pre-School Director

Hours & Compensation: 
20-25 hours per week, Monday -Friday, $15 -$18 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Offer daily experiences/activities based on each child’s developmental progress and needs that are designed to promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth and language and literacy skills.
• Provide a stimulating classroom environment for children and display children’s art work and projects in conjunction with weekly/monthly curriculum.  
• Provide a variety of learning models/ centers to meet each child’s needs.
• Promote positive self-esteem in children and motivate children to develop a positive attitude for learning.
• Follow daily routines that help children keep themselves and others, healthy and safe such as hand washing, toileting, brushing teeth, and appropriate classroom management techniques. 
• Assess the development status of each child on a regular basis through observation and various appropriate record keeping techniques and write progress reports and education plans as necessary. 
• Participate in staff meetings and in service training sessions. 
• Inform the Director about any problems, concerns, issues, emergencies, parent complaints, or equipment needs / repairs. 
• Participate in other activities as needed at the discretion of the Pre-School Director, i.e., classroom events, school wide events, and community events (preschool options night)
* Be an active, vested Teacher in the Preschool.

*High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
* At least three year’s experience working with a E.E.C Licensed Program
*Current EEC certification. 
*MS Office and web competency preferred 


Position Title:
Lifeguard/Swim Instructor 

Position Summary: The Arlington Boys & Girls Club is seeking highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic Lifeguard/Swim Instructors to join our staff. This position is responsible for instructing swim lessons, supervising open swim, as well as assist in maintaining the integrity of the Arlington Boys & Girls Club Aquatics program.

Supervision Received: Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator

Major Responsibilities:
  • Lifeguard free swim, lap swim, family swims 
  • Prevent accidents and injuries 
  • Teach a variety of swim lessons for children ages 3 to 17 
  • Assess and grade individual swimmers in preparation for level placement/advancement 
  • Test pool and record chlorine and pH numbers
  • Maintain daily attendance records
  • Maintain cleanliness in and around pool
  • Adhere to all pool standards and rules set forth by Aquatics Coordinator
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills / Knowledge Required:
  • Experienced working with youth
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer & First Aid certification
  • Previous teaching experience, WSI preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with children and parents
  • Available weekday afternoons and weekends   
 Part-Time position.
