Group Leader for the Afterschool Program
The Group Leader is responsible for providing direct supervision and care for children enrolled in the Arlington Boys & Girls Club After School Program, working under the supervision of the Program Administrator. The Group Leader helps to plan and lead daily activities, helps to maintain attendance records, serves snacks, ensures the safety and well-being of all participants, manages behavior in accordance with program policies, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred), and have at least six months of experience working with children. Trainings are required along with participation in Department of Early Education and Care-approved professional development. This position has flexible work hours including Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:00–6:00 PM, and Wednesday from 12:30–6:00 PM. Abbreviated hours may also be available for the correct candidate.
Front Desk Attendant
The major responsibility is to assist in the daily check-in, registration and renewal of all clubhouse members. Also serves as an important public relations function by meeting/greeting all who enter or telephone the Club and provide information about the clubhouse and its functions.
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred), and have at least six months of experience working with children. Work hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:00–6:00 PM.
Swim Instructor
We are currently accepting applications for lifeguard positions for the Fall season which begins in September.
Swim Instructors:
The swimming pool offers lessons for children beginning at age 3. Swim instructors must hold current American Red Cross certification.
- Fall Hours are typically weekdays 3-6pm and Saturdays are 9am-5pm. Days and hours can be flexible.
- Summer Hours are scheduled on a week by week basis. We offer lessons and free swims Monday-Friday. Part-time and full-time shifts June 24th - August 23rd.
Early Morning Lifeguard:
The Club offers early adult lap swim time for adult members and guests. Lifeguard hours are: M-W-F 5:45am to 9:30am and T-Th 6:45am to 9:30am. Summer Hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00am to 8:30am. Days are flexible. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and hold current American Red Cross lifeguard certification.
Substitute Preschool Teacher - PreK
Substitute Preschool-Pre-K Teacher
Supervision Received:
Under the general supervision of the ABC Preschool Director and/or Lead Teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of students in assigned classroom settings.
- Follows lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher when available.
- Maintains a positive and orderly classroom environment.
- Takes accurate daily attendance.
- Assists with or supervises snack, lunch, and rest/quiet periods as applicable.
- Addresses student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Communicates relevant information to school staff regarding student behavior or classroom needs.
- Participates in staff meetings and trainings as requested.
- Demonstrates flexibility by working in different classrooms or grade levels as needed.
Qualifications and Entrance Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (some college coursework in Education preferred).
- Prior experience working with children or youth preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications required (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Must meet all applicable state and school requirements for substitute teachers.
- Willingness to participate in required professional development or orientation training.
