Preschool Teacher - PreK

ABC preschool is seeking a qualified Preschool Teacher who can aid in the continued success of a preschool classroom and support students in growing in their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. The goal of ABC preschool is to continuously contribute to the healthy growth and development of each student which included meeting children’s basic needs, supporting children in transition, and providing a safe, fun and healthy learning environment. Teachers must posses a love of learning, teaching and patience for children. Qualifications include the ability to plan and implement age appropriate play-based curriculum, knowledge of best practices and teaching methods and the ability to engage all students.

 


Supervision: 

Teachers work under the direct supervision of the Preschool Director. 


Work Hours: 

8:00am to 1:00pm with the opportunity to work Extended Day hours which are 12:30pm to 4:00pm. 



Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with fellow teachers to develop an engaging and creative program suitable for Pre-K children.
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques and offer daily experiences/activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. This could be through storytelling, educational play, media, etc.
  • Willingness to utilize available areas of the Club (pool, gym, basketball court, learning center) to enhance the children’s preschool experience.
  • Willingness to go off-site (walking) to places such as the library, fire station, or nearby playgrounds.
  • Promote positive self-esteem in the children while helping them improve their social competencies and encourage positive interactions with their peers, teachers, and other building staff members.
  • Establish and consistently follow daily routines.
  • Assess the developmental status of each child and be able to complete written assessments for parents and the children’s files.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education workshops and/or trainings (required).
  • Participate in other activities as needed, for example; classroom, school wide and/or community events that support or promote the growth of the preschool. 


Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working in an Early Education & Care (EEC) Licensed Preschool Program required.
  • Current Early Education & Care (EEC) teacher certification.
  • Microsoft Office (or similar platform) and web competency preferred.

Preschool Extended Day Teacher

The Extended Day Teacher is responsible for the direct care of the children attending ABC Preschool’s Extended Day Program. 


Supervision Received: 

Under the general supervision of the ABC Preschool Director. 


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the children they supervise in the Extended Day Program. 
  • Responsible for planning and executing daily activities. 
  • Records daily attendance. 
  • Facilitates daily snackss and specific rest/quiet time. 
  • Handles discipline problems in a manner consistent with the program’s behavior management policy. 
  • Participates in scheduled staff meetings as needed. 
  • Participates in training and courses in professional growth. 


Qualifications and Entrance Requirements: 

  • The Extended Day Teacher must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. (some college experience preferred) 
  • Experience working with children 
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications. (onsite training may be available if applicant does not have the fore-mentioned certifications). 
  • Required to attend professional development training approved by the Department of Early Education and Care. Professional development workshops will be arranged by the ABC Preschool Director. 


Work Hours:

Monday thru Friday 11- 4pm (additional hours possible)

Swim Instructor

We are looking for swim instructors.

Applicants must hold current American Red Cross lifeguard certification.


Swim Instructors:

The swimming pool offers lessons for children beginning at age 3.

  • Fall Hours are typically weekdays 3-6pm and Saturdays are 9am-5pm. Days and hours can be flexible. 
  • Summer Hours are scheduled on a week by week basis.  We offer lessons and free swims Monday-Friday.  Part time shifts and full time shifts.
